My Top 5 Hair Styling Products
” I have tried so many different hair styling products over the years and quite frustratingly spent a lot of money on a products that failed to deliver what I expected, now when ever I buy a new one I haven’t tried before I tend to open the top and feel what the consistency of it is before I buy it, it does give me an indication if it will work or not but there’s no real way of telling until you use it, and then if it doesn’t do what you want your screwed because it’s not like you can take it back is it.
Another thing I have found is that most hair styling products don’t actually do what they say the do, for instance I bought a gel that said it would keep your hair in shape even when it rains! and guess what it was bollocks, the first time it rained it flopped all over my face and I ended up with white gel residue running down my face and into my eyes which stung…. a lot. I have compiled a list of my personal favourites because it always helps to have someone else’s opinion before you buy something like this. Here goes.
1.
Fish Paste Hair Putty
Fish putty for me is by far the best out there. I have quite thin hair and styling it with gels and waxes does me no favours at all so putties work best for me. It is a very thick putty so you have to work it a bit before you put it in, but a small blob goes a hell of a long way, and it will stay in your hair all day and wont flinch, it is a bit of a bugger to wash off your hands, and it needs 2 hair washes to get it fully out, but the look is fantastic. I get mine from boots for around £5.50
2.
VO5 Extreme Matt Clay
This is my second favourite because it has a similar effect to the fish putty but is about half the price, it is easy to work into your hair and gives a rough out of bed look. One thing I do find is that it can clump in your hair if you put too much in at once, I suggest working into the hair in 3 separate portions to get an even look. It does also lose its style a bit near the end of the day though, but it is in my opinion the best cheapest option, available at most supermarkets for around £3.00
3.
Shockwaves Texture Paste
This stuff is best if you have fairly short hair, it works fantastic if you do but it quickly dries away into nothing if you have longer hair, it has a paste texture and gives a matt finish to your hair and it smells pretty good too, you can get it for around £2.50 – £3.50 depending on the retailer.
4.
Garnier Fructis Hard Gel
I rarely use hair gel, simply because my hair is pretty thin and most gels just leave my hair floppy and unmanageable but this gel is pretty good, it really holds your style all day and makes your hair rock solid and I mean rock solid, if you have longer hair and you want massive spikes then this one works amazingly well. It costs around £2.99 from boots.
5.
VO5 Rework Fibre Putty
And lastly is VO5’s rework fibre putty, I use this as an every day styling product for work and just hanging out, it goes such a long way and you get a big tub for your money, it is a bit sticky and forms a kind of cobweb over your hands when your putting it in but it does give a good effect and lasts pretty much all day, it is ideal for work or just relaxing with mates. I get it for about £3.70 depending on the retailer.
So there you go my favourite 5 hair styling products. I could have put amazon affiliate links to these but I don’t want you to think I’m just trying to sell you stuff so I avoid putting links for this sort of thing. It is trial and error finding the right hair product but once you find the right one it will become your best mate, some of what I have listed won’t suit everyone to the same degree as me, you might find my fifth favourite is your number one, so guys I hope this helps you find karma in your hairstyling efforts.
