How To Floss Correctly

teeth” I know a lot of my friends don’t even think about flossing, believing it’s a waste of time and to just stick to brushing and maybe a bit of mouthwash, my response to that is if you carry on like that you will end up attracting some really nasty problems, like gum disease and you could end up with having fillings.

It is quite a shock that the statistics for people flossing is only 1 in 10 that actually bother on a regular basis, the rest of us either do it once in a while or not at all, flossing is proven to help maintain health teeth and will pro long the life of your glistening white pearlies so follow these simple steps to better healthier teeth.

You need to start off with a piece of floss about the length of your inner arm and wind it around the middle fingers of each hand leaving a piece about 3cm between them. You need to gently slide the floss between 2 teeth, and looping it round one of them in a c shape. To floss all you need to do is slide the floss up and down the tooth in a sliding motion, making sure you go just below the gum line as you do it.

Occasionally you may notice some slight bleeding, DON’T panic, this is fine, it is just a reaction from your gums, and will stop after a few weeks of flossing once your gums are used to it. Repeat the process for each tooth, try and go as far back as you can, if you can’t reach the very back teeth don’t worry too much, just pay them extra attention when brushing instead.

You don’t need to floss every day, but try and floss at regular intervals twice a week to keep your teeth healthy. Below are some recommended flossing tools which you should consider.”

My dentist stressed the importance of flossing and I found the exercise troublesome as I spent 14 hours a day at work. So it is kind of weird to even find time to do so.

Good that you keep up the good work and wrote about it!

I find that I only really need to floss twice a week, I normally do it when i’m drunk for some reason, and I have found myself nearly choking on dental floss tape haha

I like to use a Girpit Floss Holder – http://www.gripit.biz – to floss regularly.
These handy devices come with their own floss supply that can be
advanced in seconds and refilled with floss or dental tape from local
drug and grocery stores. They last a lifetime and don’t clog landfills.
I’ve used one for 35 years.

I usually floss for about a day or two after visiting the dentist. Good enough, I say.
