Asylum.co.uk: another great site like blokebuddy!

”It’s not often that I recommend other sites, in fact this is the first time. The site I want to share with you is asylum.co.uk, you may have seen the advertisement on our sidebar for them, but today I want to tell you a bit more, and don’t worry this isn’t some sort of paid review or sponsorship, I’m not getting a dead cent from them, this is purely off my own back.

What is asylum?

Basically asylum is a free online men’s magazine just like mine, it has been running since 2005 and is a very well established men’s interest site that is run by a team of people firing out loads of content every day. Asylum is part of Aol meaning it gets up to date news and content as it happens.

What’s the difference between blokebuddy and asylum?

Asylum is a fantastic site to go visit, and although the site is in the same topic as mine, we both have different takes on things, my site is heavily humour based, is very outspoken and brash, I am not afraid to tell what I think and can be quite aggressive, blokebuddy does also provide serious and topical posts that help and solve problems. Asylum is slightly different in that it focuses a lot on news and current events, it churns out top quality stories and first hand news every day except weekends, it is less outspoken than blokebuddy but not in a bad way, it’s just a little more reserved.

Why are you reccomending a rival site?

The way I look at other sites in my niche is not as competition, but an opportunity to share with my readers, I want to share the good stuff with you, because that’s what I am here for, you guys. Asylum is a great site and I spend a lot of time there, I get inspiration from some of there ideas and I enjoy reading their content, and I think so will you.

Pro’s and con’s

No site is perfect and you can’t please everyone as I have found out on many occasions, so here are what I believe are the pro’s and con’s of asylum.co.uk:

Pro’s

• Great selection of posts and up to date news stories
• Great logo and design
• Funny and quirky posts
• Great original ideas
• Easy to navigate
• Well established site been going for over 4 years, and has a large readership
• By far one of the best men’s interest sites out there

Con’s

• Can have too much content in 1 day which can be a little overwhelming
• Not so much a con but asylum is less brash and outspoken than blokebuddy which is the major difference
• Comments on posts are few and far between
• Doesn’t post at weekends

Conclusion:

I love asylum, and I think you will too, if you want another great site to visit other than blokebuddy then I suggest you stay away from askmen and go with asylum.co.uk, they are much better. A great site and definitely one of the best, with tons of content they are well worth a visit!”
