Citroen have unveiled there spanking new c4, and on first impressions it does look pretty funky, the grill looks a little aggressive without being to offensive, the alloy wheels look very modern and the tinted windows give it an air of class.

The thing that bothers me a little is how un progressive it looks, by that I mean it doesn’t look like a car of tomorrow. When I hear about a new car coming out I expect the release pictures to fill me with awe and expectation of what we should expect from a new model, but this to me is nothing exceptional.

Don’t get me wrong the car is nice, but it is what it is…just ‘nice’ It doesn’t break the mould, it doesn’t have any groundbreaking technology and it would quite happily sit in the early 2000’s without looking ‘futuristic’.

The new model has had a little face lift, it measures 5cm longer, 2cm wider and 3cm taller than it’s predecessor. For the eco friendly types it does boast a micro-hybrid engine with a stop & start function. The car has a lot of wizardry stuff going on inside, but all of it superficial and un necessary, such as a blind spot monitoring system and cornering lights.

In all the car does look nice, but I expected more from Citroen, I expected some ground breaking technology or at least an eye catching chassis.

The car is due for release in 2011, price TBC.

Remove stuff you don’t use

I see this more and more these days, people driving around with unused roof racks, bike racks, flags, you name it. All this equipment increases the drag of the car thus reducing the fuel efficiency, Planning ahead, if you are thinking about buying a roof rack then make sure its easily removable when your not using it.

Drive efficiently

It has long been said that you can save between £50 – £100 a year simply by changing the way you drive. In the past it was said that the best speed for fuel efficiency was between 50-60 MPH, however this has been tested and now experts suggest driving at around 40MPH for better fuel savings. It is also said to turn off your air conditioning and drive with the windows down for an extra 8% performance.

Shop around

It makes sense to get the best price possible, so shop around. Keep tabs on the oil prices as it normally takes a few days for petrol to increase if it goes up, so if oil is going up then go fill your car before petrol goes up, simple. Also look at supermarkets, they are always running promotions on fuel. You can also check out petrolprices.com and bash in your postcode for the best price in your area.

Shopping for a car?

If you are looking to buy a new car look around for the best fuel efficient model you can, this doesn’t mean you need to buy a tiny little car that feels like its powered by an asthmatics cough, you just have to be sensible. Selecting the right car could save you between £10 – £15 a week.”

” I was stunned to learn today of how a fleet of cars was seized from a crime boss worth nearly £4 million quid including 2 Bugatti Veyron’s! ludicrous! How the hell he went undetected for so long I have no idea.

The astonishing collection of cars was scattered across UK and Switzerland, and were taken from alleged drug lord Alexander Surin. I think it is pure arrogance on his part for thinking he could get away with it, but apparently he never drove them, instead driving around in an old banger to avoid suspicion, so really then Alexander it was all kind of pointless, I mean whats the point of having them if you can’t enjoy them? What a tool. Alex will soon go on trial in France.”

”Check out this piece of sex! This is the Hennessey Venom GT concept car. It is in essence a Lotus Exige but the only resemblance to it’s original state is the shape, everything else has been stripped, ripped and re tweaked into this monster car that will smash the hell out of the Veyron, it is simply staggering.

It is powered by a 6.2 litre V8 nicked from a Corvette ZR1, It has been supercharged to produce a standard 725BHP, but if you can stump up the extra cash you can get the 1,000BHP edition…. I think my heart just fell out my arse!

The entire car weighs less than a ford fiesta, and can corner like a one legged duck. The veyron won’t touch this in drag race.

I love it, it is sexier than Rhianna and Beyonce rubbing melted chocolate over each other, it moves faster than Tiger woods underwear and it makes you look like batman driving it.

Details are still a bit sketchy and I have no idea what this thing costs, but you can bet it won’t be cheap. You can check out the Hennessey website here for extra info.”

”Bugatti have finally released pictures of the new 16 C Galibier family saloon. The car itself is absolutely incredible, pure unadulterated luxury, and is also the worlds fastest accelerating four door saloon.

Apparently Bugatti want to start selling these beasts by 2013, and it looks like they are on course for doing so, even though the car is still in it’s concept stage. The reaction from people when the car was unveiled at the VW pre show in Geneva was incredible, people were in awe and plenty of jaw dropping went on.

the car is powered by a version of the ‘veyron’s’ 16 cylinder engine, it will generate a whopping 800BHP coming from it’s twin superchargers. It will be a four wheel drive with tranmission coming from an 8 speed automatic gearbox.

I don’t think you could fully appreciate the beauty of this car until you actually see it, but to give you an idea here is a swanky set of pictures to wet your appetite. I hope to god Jeremy Clarkson gets hold of one and reviews it!”

”This years Geneva motor show has unveiled some fantastic new cars, and some really bizarre concepts but the one car that really made me gawp was the brand spanking new Porsche 918 spyder, it is unlike any other Porsche I have ever seen, it is so good looking I want to bit my fist….but that’s not all what this car is about.

You see Porsche have proved with this car that you CAN have your cake and eat it. The spyder is a hybrid that can go quicker than a cheetah with a firework up it’s arse, doing 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, a top speed of 198MPH but still manages an incredible (and I still can’t get my head around it) 94MPG!?

The car is infested with technological advancements, such as a carbon fibre body to reduce weight, the engine is a petrol/electric hybrid with each of the 2 electric motors boasting 218BHP driving both the front and rear wheels, the petrol part of the engine is a V8 3.4litre, the brakes are fully ceramic and you can even have a full electric version of the car.

I am really impressed, I am not normally a Porsche fan as I think they tend to all look the same, but they have really turned this one up on it’s head and created something completely unique, could this car be the future of Porsche? who knows.”

”BMW have announced they will be releasing a new ’slightly’ re styled X-5 SUV. I say slightly re styled because it doesn’t look any different to the last model, but they insist it is.

According to them the new Xdrive30 d, which is the entry model for the new series has 10BHP more than the previous version, and apparently the Diesel version has a new improved mileage of 38.2mpg giving you an extra 3.3mpg for your money.

BMW have also created a new Xdrive40 d, with a powerful twin turbo 3 litre engine knocking out a cracking 306bhp, it can do 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds but still manages to do 37mpg, which is not bad considering it’s a 4×4.

If you really wanted to look like a pro footballer and buy more power than you actually need, you can go for the top end model which has a 408bhp 4.4litre V8, which will be ideal for taking your nan shopping. From what I hear all models will come with leather interior, a new 8 speed automatic gearbox, parking assist and BMW’s latest iDrive system.

The cars go on sale here on June 5th, but as with most BMW’s don’t expect much change from 50k, the entry model starts at £43,980 without extras, and rises to £58,175 for the top end model. A great looking car packed full of features, it is practical and stylish and if you get the Diesel version the MPG is good value for money.

”In the short 4 months I have been blogging here at blokebuddy I have reported on some amazing looking cars, some great finely tuned automobiles that inspire you to love driving again, but today I want to do something a bit different. ”This is a first look at the new mini ‘countrman’ which is in essence a mini with 4 wheel drive. The pictures have been released ahead of it’s UK release in September.

I’m a little perplexed as to why it even exists, it seems that BMW are trying too improve on something that cannot be improved upon. The original mini was fantastic of course, then BMW released the brilliant updated version back in 2006 and it really kicked up a storm because it was well designed, in keeping with the feel of the original, and was well engineered, so why release what is essentially a slightly bigger mini?

BMW have made some adjustments of course, it is the first mini to have 4 doors, and of course 4 wheel drive, which by the way doesn’t come as standard, the engine specs are pretty much the same as the 2006 version. You can however trump up the cash for extras like these:

• Lowered sports suspension
• 19 inch alloys
• A top end 181bhp 1.6L sports engine which is taken from the cooper S

In all the ‘countrman’ would be good if your a mini fanatic but have kids, it does have plenty of room as opposed to a standard mini. Price wise it is set to start around £17,000 ($27,000) and that will shoot up quicker than a heroin addict once you start adding on the customisable options.

On first impressions I give it a score of 6/10”

”I don’t know what the situation is in the states as far as popular cars go, but here in the UK the Ford Focus has been a mainstay on British roads for a number of years now, it has the same popularity as the Peugeot 206 and the re-invented Mini did, so I was glad to see Ford have produced a new sparkly, spruced up Focus that made it’s debut in Detroit and will be over in old blighty by 2011.

One of the biggest things that has surprised me over this new model is how it will be identical across the world, in the past car manufacturers have made different versions of cars to fit in with different country’s demographics, so this is a bold step for Ford and I’m not convinced it will work, but I guess time will tell.

Specs wise the new Focus has had a complete overhaul, here are a few new features:

• Multilink rear suspension and subframes have been re designed
• Variable power steering for better responsiveness
• New 1.6ltr ‘EcoBoost’ petrol engine
• New sexy interior
• Brand new design

It’s all well and good from the outset, and if the new model is such a vast improvement on the original Focus as Ford claims, then it will skyrocket to success and may even become more popular than the current version. Keep an eye out for this one in 2011 as I’m sure Jeremy and the team at topgear will be doing a review of it.”
